Project OP VVV: Research of soil and water ecosystems

“Many experts are of the opinion that each soil has some limit of organic matter, and if we get below this threshold, the soil will start cascading in a number of processes to lose its fertility and increase its erosion. It is estimated that this threshold is somewhere below 0.5-0.75% of organic matter and we are dangerously approaching this border,” says director of our RI SoWa, prof. Frouz, in a introducing our project “Research of key soil-water ecosystem interactions at the SoWa Research Infrastructure” funded by the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education.

Řada odborníků se domnívá, že každá půda má nějakou hranici organické hmoty, a pokud se dostaneme pod tuto hranici, půda začne kaskádovitým způsobem díky řadě procesů ztrácet svoji úrodnost a zvýší se její eroze. Odhaduje se, že tato hranice je někde pod 0,5-0,75 % organické hmoty a k této hranici se nebezpečně blížíme,“ uvádí ředitel naší VI SoWa, prof. Frouz, v testimonialu k našemu projetu OP VVV.
